Where is Bellevue located ?

Bellevue is located north from Bwejuu , situated on a rock, around 50m away from the beach. In front of the guesthouse is a private house.

If you want to go to the beach you just walk down the steps, go left for 50m and go right for 50 m and there you are.

The advantage from staying on a rock is a better view over the water, nicers colors, Also you don't get annoyed from the flying sand, and get a better breeze in the evening.

How does tidal change effect swimming in the ocean?

E-mail Print PDF

Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun and the rotation of the Earth. The tides occur with a period of approximately 12 hours and 25 minutes, and with an amplitude that is influenced by the alignment of the sun and moon and the shape of the near-shore bottom.

Tidal changes on the East-Coast;

Every 6 hours the tide changes from high to low tide. This means with low tide the water will be drawn back up to the reef. The dept of the water left in the ocean will depend on the positioning of the moon. Around full moon the water is completely drawn back up to the reef.

So, around high tide you can swim everywhere. When the tide is going down you have a timeframe from around 4 hours around high tide to swim.
When it's low tide there are always options to swim around lagoon area's closeby.
